Multi Met Trading’s compliance framework to significantly reduce systematic bribery and corruption risks
Abu Dhabi-based metals company Multi Met Trading (MMT) has reaffirmed its commitment to regulations and best practices related to public and private sector bribery, money laundering, and counter-terrorist financing.
The company vows to voluntarily adopt universal best practices to enhance defences against corruption, particularly regarding facilitation payments and third-party due diligence, even where not explicitly mandated by local laws.
At its core, the compliance framework focuses on a risk-based approach to operations. This includes mandatory annual risk assessments, rigorous third-party due diligence, and the integration of explicit anti-bribery clauses into all MMT’s partnership contracts. Operationally, the company is enforcing a strict AED 1,000 threshold for gifts and hospitality, alongside a “zero-tolerance” policy regarding facilitation payments.
To ensure internal accountability, Multi Met is empowering a dedicated Compliance Officer to oversee role-specific training and manage a confidential whistleblowing channel.
MMT strives to foster a transparent “culture of integrity” that adapts to evolving regulatory landscapes, both in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and internationally.
